The Talent and The Voice!

There are so many Music TV shows and competitions all over the world ..

One of the Newest ones is

"The Voice"

A Talent Show that only depends on the contestant's voice and voice only!

I like the idea of the program because the Coaches pick their team according to what they hear and not what they see which always would affect the decision of the coach if they always see the person sings!

From watching the Voice UK and The Voice USA I found that the talent in the UK is much better than its in the US! there are so many great singer in the UK but from watching the Blinds in the US show I really didn't find many great voices that match some of the voices in the UK!

Also I like th Coaches of The Voice UK than the other shows ..

I'm yet to watch the Voice Australia and hopefully it will have more and better talent! I also guess that the previous comment came just from me being partially Aussie .. hahaha ..

these shows to be honest are great to give more people more opportunities to show their talents and share their greatness with the world.

I know that sometimes the coaches make some strange choices in the battle rounds from picking who to go against who or who to pick to go through! but that's their choice and their contestants and they would know better (hopefully) than us behind the screen ..

Finally, I have to say that the coaches in each show are great ..

East West QUT

Being away from home and family is not an easy task to deal with!
But once I was told that my friends here are my FAMILY.
which is very very true, EAST WEST has been my family since 2009.

Every time I start writing this blog lots of memories pass through my mind which stops me of finishing it!
It is so overwhelming being part of this Family for so long! see and meeting all those great people throughout this long period.

To people who does not know what's East West .. EW is a program started by the student engagement in QUT in order to bring international and domestic students together.

The program was successful and attracted many international students and not so many locals. it might be the name that put the locals off or the fact that they don't hang around campus be the reason for that ..

Nevertheless, the program served the public of QUT very well ...

My Journey with EW started with East West Tournament which is a 6-aside outdoor football tournament.

I still remember receiving the email from the faculty about the tournament and I replied on the spot from my Xperia phone back then .. I joined in and formed my first team here in Australia "East West United"

East West United

We didn't win but we had a great time and that's why we joined in again in the next tournament and kept going together.

From there I fell in love with EW and started attending more events, from Global Cafe to East West East Eats and finally now East West Festival.

Global Cafe was the hub to meet students on campus from all over the world over a cup of warm drink .. In global cafe I met the most wonderful and amazing people I know .. we used to spend hours and hours chatting and forgetting all about the University worries ..

Global Cafe 2009

East West Eats was the guide for students who are new to Brisbane .. it introduced students to many budget restaurants to and also helped students form many different connections not to mention trying all these different cuisines .. great and cheap food + great people = Awesome times :)

East West Eats

The German Club

Jun Japanese

Mexican

Ice Cream (Gelato)

Finally, East west Festival which brings all the different clubs, societies, cultures, and the diverse groups of students we have on campus in the best most enjoyable manner :) I will talk more about EW Festival in another post :)

Along with these events we had many others like Ice Skating, Xmas and Australia Day BBQs and many more ..

This is my Family away from my Family and my Home Away from Home ..

I love everything about East West and also I love everything about QUT ..

Living Below the Line to Help other Live Above it

Live Below the Line is a simple way to better understand extreme poverty, and make a real impact. From May 6th – 10th, join thousands of Australians taking the challenge to eat on $2 a day for five days – the equivalent of the extreme poverty line. It’s a worthwhile experience that gives you a window into the day-to-day lives of people living in poverty.
Money raised through Live Below the Line will be dedicated to those living in extreme poverty. We believe the best way to help them break out of their poverty cycle is through education and skills training.

Why $2
A DAY?
Since 2005, the World Bank has defined the extreme poverty line as surviving on less than US$1.25 a day. So how did we get to an extreme poverty line of $2 in Australia today? It's two simple steps!

The Impact so Far?

In 2012 Live Below the Line had it's most successful year yet, with over 7800 Australians taking the challenge to eat on $2 a day for five days.
Together, with over 50,000 donors, we raised over $1.92 million for schools and teachers in places like Papua New Guinea and Cambodia.

Let's top it in 2013!
